RFID to improve healthcare for the aged

It’s really important to be sensitive to the needs of senior citizen since due to old age they tend to be dependant on others and PresCare which is an Australian aged care provider which offers services such as respite care, community care and meals on wheels is implementing a new nurse call system for offering a personalized and flexible approach for meeting the special needs of its residential aged care.

For this purpose Prescare is using Wi-Fi-based Active RFID tags coupled with location tracking software which triggers an alert on a handheld device to a nurse in case the residents lands up in a precarious situation. The system is neither compromises on safety or personal freedom and is expected to work wonders for the healthcare market.
